Top 10 Anime OST

Sunday, November 15, 2015

It's been a while since I composed a top 10 list. These top 10s seem very popular with my readers- especially for Pinterest users. So with that being said I'm going to show you guys my top 10 anime original sound tracks. Rarely do I pay close attention to anime OSTs, but to the anime that can get me to listen to the background music while watching the anime, will get points from me. And these OST for the anime listed below did just that for me, I will list the anime whose OST I loved and post a song from the sound tracks from the anime that held a strong affinity with my ears lol. This top 10 is based on my top favourite original soundtracks in anime, not what I think is the best of the best. So please enjoy this top 10 list of my favourite OSTs!

10. Kimi ni Todoke
Best shoujo ever - Kimi ni Todoke was the anime that got me hooked on this genre. The OST holds a special place for me since it's so light hearted.

9. Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works
Fate/ Stay Night is nothing but epic, the OST is no exception to this as well. It's hard to find anyone who genuinely hates this whole franchise. I mean how phenomenal is Archer's theme?

8. Neon Genesis Evangelion
Ok, sorry to disappoint the NGE Kool-aid drinkers but I did not see the appeal of NGE when I watched it. None the less I won't take a jab at the OST since it was very well done.

7. Katanagatari
The hour long episodes of Katanagatari felt like 10 minutes in real time. OST was nice to listen to and that Vietnamese rap track doe...lol.

6. Little Busters!
First season was a letdown but Refrain made Little Busters look like garbage. Refrain highlighted how good the OST was and was a big step up from it's predecessor.

5. Clannad
Who doesn't love Clannad? Or who hasn't seen Clannad is a better question. Clannad was not that great but After Story was something else. Nagisa's theme was probably everyone's favourite but mines is a rendition of her theme - Nagisa's warm piano.

4. Nana
47 episodes seems daunting to watch but you will regret feeling that after you watch Nana since you will beg for more episodes! So many of the characters are flawed in their own ways and the OST reflects just that with most of the famous tracks being quite sombre.

3. Mawaru Penguindrum
Mawaru Penguindrum, I think I said in my review for this anime that this was one of my favourite anime ever. So no need for an explanation as to why Mawaru Penguindrum's OST is one of my favourites haha.

2. Shinsekai Yori
Runner up for best OST is the soundtrack from Shinsekai Yori. Ominous, dark and specular is what I would describe the OST as. I'm glad that whoever composed the sheet for Shinsekai Yori that they actually took time to make the tracks sound completely unique, interesting to listen to and at the same time have the OST resonate with the aura of the anime itself.

1. Aria the Animation
Hands down Aria and the OST is a slice of heaven, it's the crème de la crème. It's the holy grail of all OSTs and it's the OST that I use a tier when comparing soundtracks of other anime. None have which came close to how good the tracks for Aria are.
So...that's it for this list. What are your favourite anime original soundtracks? Please comment down below and tell me! Thanks for reading.
