Ballroom e Youkoso – 13

My heart flatlined after watching this episode. It was that good. The full introduction of Chinatsu, Gaju being nice yet again, the flowering bond between Chinatsu and Tatara, the OST, etc.. There was so much packed, and evenly distributed into this episode that made that that enjoyable to watch.

Can you believe it that we're halfway into the season/ halfway done? January will be here in no time and we'll be yearning for more Ballroom e Youkoso. I don't want to dwell too much on that now. So the beginning with Tatara and Chinatsu's first "dance" was like magic captured in a bottle. There's something about watching someone who secretly loves a certain activity and someone who enjoys the same activity come together and work together. I'm going to patiently wait for Chinatsu to spill her guts and admit she loves dancing, since she clearly does.

What about when Tatara asked Chinatsu to dance with him after school? It was so precious, way too adorable with Tatara's meek side present, his meek personality is one of my favourite aspects about him. Hopefully we can continue the character development that Tatara's been displaying over the course of these past few weeks. It looks like he's slowly getting more comfortable in his own skin, with the whole snapping back, the sudden buddy-buddy relationship with Gaju, etc..

Ending of the episode was very enjoyable as well. Obviously Chinatsu is a seasoned ballroom dancer, so she brings more to the table than Tatara with his seven months of experience, so that would bring about an intriguing dance dynamic between the two. Based on the anime, males usually lead and females follow. Yet it turns out that Chinatsu has more experience leading than following. It's a wrench that's thrown in for Tatara to work out, which again is something to anticipate with the next few arcs. Seven months into dancing and Tatara does not know how to properly lead, a bit disappointing since the anime made it look like following shouldn't be that hard. But somehow he made it hard for Chinatsu to follow his basic lead that even Mako was able to follow. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But how about that Chinatsu? After her first interaction with Tatara I was like, "oh god, major bitch alert." But I love her for Ballroom after watching this epsiode, she's like the Yin to Tatara's Yang.  She's a firecracker, and brings a lot of energy to the cast - the similar type of energy that Gaju brings but in a more tolerable manner. Since she's a seasoned ballroom dancer, I'm can't wait to find out why she quit dance, and who her former dance partner(s) was.

And just before I cap off, I want to talk about my love for Ballroom's OST. Yuuki Hayashi did a superb job at tailoring the key to Ballroom to a tee, the soundtracks crafted by Hayashi are the perfect seasoning to this anime. I just can't wait until the soundtracks are released for purchase ;)
