Top 3 Life Lessons We Learned from Dragon Ball

Sunday, December 03, 2017

Bonjour tout le monde, I've been out of it this week with exams, work, and a lot of other distractions. Thankfully I got an email from Kess a couple of days ago that he wanted to write for me, and I was more than happy to let him. You can learn more about Kess and his thoughts on anime and video games over at TechAnimate. Please enjoy his writeup on the Top 3 Life Lessons We Learned from Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball is one of the most popular anime out there and one of the longest running. It shows no signs of slowing down. Throughout the years Dragon Ball has had a positive impact on our life by teaching us lessons that can be applied to real life. Maybe you haven't realized it yet, but you've benefited from watching this show. In this post we'll be revealing the hidden lessons that have occurred throughout the Dragon Ball series. Let's get straight into it..

3. Be YOUR Best, Not THE Best

This lesson we learned from Tien.

Tien doesn't get a lot of screen time anymore, or not much screen time in the first place. Despite his 3rd eye, Tien is an actual human. Tien's friends are all super strong aliens and some of them come from a brutal warrior race called "Saiyans". Despite these facts, Tien can still hold his own against them and their opponents. The most inspirational scene from Tien was when he fought Cell. Cell was a genetically engineered android and his purpose was to be the strongest creature in the universe. Even stronger than the Saiyan race. Unfortunately for Tien, he found himself up against Cell and had to stall his progress. Despite the obvious fact that he was no match for Cell, Tien strategically fought him. Instead of trying to defeat Cell, he stalled him for the others to escape. Everyone around Tien was much stronger and he knew that he was only human, instead of the useless pursuit of trying to get stronger than everyone else. Tien accepted himself for who he was. A lesson that we can all benefit from.

2. Stay Humble

A very important life lesson that is applicable not matter how successful you become. This lesson was learned mainly through Vegeta. Vegeta is the Prince of all Saiyans. He has worked incredibly hard for his power. In fact, Vegeta is the hardest worker in the entire Dragon Ball universe. Here's where the problems begin. Every time Vegeta reaches a whole new stage of power that surpasses everyone, soon after attaining this new power he is far surpassed.

“Every time I reach a new level of strength, a greater power appears to challenge my authority. It’s as if fate is laughing at me with a big stupid grin, just like Kakarot.”

1. Forgiveness

This has to be the most meaningful lesson. Thank you Goku for teaching us this valuable life lesson. Most of Goku's friends have tried to harm him and even kill him. But Goku constantly tried to find the best in them. Piccolo tried to kill him but eventually they got close to each other and Piccolo even started training Gohan (Goku's son). Vegeta wanted to destroy planet Earth and even damaged Gohan to the edge of death. But eventually Goku and Vegeta created a special bond. Let's just say Goku does not like to hold a grudge against anyone and just wants to enjoy life.

Conclusion

It's incredible that people who never existed in the first place could teach us so much about life. We look forward to the weird and wonderful lesson Dragon Ball Super will teach us.
